I get accused of posting predictable stuff......this one is off the wall crazy.
I have given this some thought.
Its often said one game doesnt mean much.......But.......
I think the first game against Wigan is maybe our BIGGEST game of the season.......
Before you think I have lost it, indulge my thought process.
A win at Wigan sets us up for a great chance at staying up for a number of reasons.
(1) 3 points on the road, away wins will be hard to get, 3 points is almost 10% of the total points needed to stay up.
(2) The Positive momentum we have enjoyed the past 2 years will continue in to the next few games at least after a win.
(3) Wigan without a doubt will be one of our rivals for relegation, the proverbial 6 pointer.
(4) With only 38 PL games, every game becomes much more vital. Each game is much more important.
Realistically if we want to stay up we need 11 wins (plus a few draws) we have to pick up some points on the road (our failure in 2004) and Wigan on paper looks a vastly better proposition for a win than Man Utd.
I really hope we can start the season as Blackpool did last season as I feel we have the manager in place who can see us to safety in the 2nd half of the season.
OTBC.
