that's a bit confused.

I never said it was an achievement for the UK. It's just more interesting to watch the sport, as a Brit, when we have one of the world's best players.

As for it being peculiar that we don't regularly have someone in the top 4 - don't know where to start on that really. Tennis is played in quite a lot of countries - not obvious why a country with a population the size of ours has any divine right to a top 4 player, whatever tournament we host.

And that's without going into the well-known litany of problems with our sports coaching, and facilities more generally. Suffice to say it's hardly been usual for us to have a top 4 player.
