but let us imagine that City are a million quid short for an Ashton-style signing in Jan.

If the fans are asked to contribute then the cries of "why didn't we take the risk" can be addressed.

With City's new financial sensible hat on it is more than likely that we will lose out on players for the want of 'paltry' sums (he wants 22k per week, we offer 20k. Relegated for want of 100k...)
