Brum are taking a huge risk here.
After relegation he was probably on the verge of getting sacked by Brum, not that popular with the fans even after the LG cup win.
One of the main reasons for keeping him was the fact he had a chunk left on his contract.
They could have accepted his resignation and been free and clear of his contract.
Now they risk Villa walking away, especially as Villa fans are not happy with the talk of his apointment.
Because they have stated they didnt accept his resignation they are then on the hook for his contract.
So he will be paid a huge chunk for sitting at home or agree some kind of buyout.
Brum are crying but they are not innocent here.
After relegation they basically said his job was safe BUT he had to get promotion at the first attempt, meaning he would be sacked if they had a bad start.
They then told him that they are selling most of their better players to cut the wage bill....... (Johnson, Jerome ect ect)
Maybe he resigned because he thought he was being put in an impossible position.
If he quit now he would still have credibility after winning the LG cup this year.
