OK, I've tried Google... Time for a long shot.
Can anyone remember a football card game from the mid-80s, I'd love to find it or re-create it - actually I think it would make a spiffing app, but anyway, here's what I can recall:
It was based on a cup tournament, almost certainly the FA Cup. Don't know how many teams were in it, but Norwich were in it. Teams were ranked from A (Liverpool, Arsenal etc), B (Norwich were a B team, I'm certain), C and D (Mansfield Town springs to mind!) There was a card for each of those teams, maybe 32 teams?!
There were little shiny silver FA Cup stickers you could stick on the winner's card.
The draw for each round was random, shuffle the pack and deal home and away sides (bit like they still do on Soccer AM for whatever minor tourno they do the draw)
Games were played as follows: two cards were dealt for each time for each half. The cards had on them things like "Goal for A teams" "Goal for all teams", "Goal for A and B teams" "No goal", and such like. So I think A teams had the best chance of getting goals and so on, but upsets were entirely possible depending on the randomness of the cards being dealt.
If anyone can remember what that game was called, or indeed locate it on thinternet, I'd be well chuffed!!!
Long shot, I know...
