Unquestionably RW's right

I've no idea whether or not Rick reads this board, but you'd be amazed how much local journo's know or suspect but don't actually report for any number of reasons.

What I do know is that, at the Barnham Broom forum, Nigel Worthington was perfectly openly - outside the formal forum - prepared to say that Francis' head wasn't right, that he'd probably been tapped up by someone, and that he was looking very closely about whether or not he'd was in a fit state mentally to play.

Rick had pretty much put this together by the time of open day. Given that he and Worthington sat together that afternoon signing copies of Rick's book, what price Francis' name being dropped into the conversation at some point?

At a severe risk of brown-nosing, Rick is an extremely talented local journalist - far and away the best we've had at Archant for a long while. Think back to the days of Colin Forshaw, Neil Custis, et al and be thankful. He usually hits the spot with his articles.

Rick's article, I'd say, was planned and partly written long before Francis failed to deliver at Fulham. His performance just provided a wonderful justification to publish.
