Thats a really nice historical perspective.
I like Mick a lot and try and read most of the stuff he writes and try and catch him on skysports.com when he does the paper reviews. (he is on live here in the US) as SSN runs Live on Fox Soccer channel (11pm PST, 7am UK time)
I agree totally with his points about Roeder getting smashed in defence by injuries plus the lack of striking options was really bad.
I think Mick missed Roeders inability to raid the lower divisions when we needed players.
I dont think he knew those divisions at all.
Lambert had already managed in the lower divsions so knew the players well and always had a player up his sleeve that he had personally seen play. (and know a bit about their character/desire to play the game)
Its no secret that Lambert has mostly bought players from either lower divisions or players he has personally seen play against his teams.
He is not interested in past reputations, he wants younger players he can mold into a winning squad.
I think it would be incredible for the game if Paul Lambert was to stick with this formula and do what Olly couldnt do.
Norwich will probably have more British/home grown players in their squad next season than any other team in the PL.
Maybe it will be good for the home nations in the long term if we succeed.
