I didn't think Super Matt was a great player

Either didn't read the game too well or was lazy, hence he usually arrived late in the box...sometimes to good affect, I'll admit.

But if Ashton really is injured, we need a realistic alternative. It's just bad luck that Thorne and his magic hat are injured. I reckon odds are pretty good that Beaker would have been injured too (6 knee operations in 18 months?!), but we're left with Jarvis, and a losing team is not the place for him to learn his trade.

In some ways, a safe mid-table finish and a progressive manager could be a good thing. What a great opportunity to introduce players like Jarvis, Hendo, maybe even Fisk, Halliday and Eagle. In the last couple of seasons, we've had too much riding on the games to do much experimentation.
