in this country at least. If I took one to Mother's, where there's no wi-fi[*] and no 3G (and this is *inside* the Nodge Golden Triangle) it'd be useless - I'd have to try to accomplish everything over GPRS - that would be rubbish.

And if you can't use one in an affluent area like the Golden Triangle, something's missing. (In this case, decent 3G coverage. It'll come, but it's not there yet.)

[*] full disclosure - When I'm at Mother's with my laptop, I do sometimes use an open wifi network that one of the neighbours (no idea who) has foolishly left open, but I have common decency enough to feel bad about that and not use it much (but not the common decency enough to not use it at all - come on: there should be a cost of stupidity).
