Seriously, you'll be won over by it.
Maybe start with the episode where Homer gets a gun - it begins with a commercial for a soccer game between Mexico and Portugal (which quite brilliantly satirises both the game itself, and American preconceptions about it), which degenerates into a riot before the Mayor (who's based on JFK) declares martial rule.
So Homer gets a gun to protect himself and his family, joins the NRA ... well, it goes from there. Watch some of it, anyway ...
