The advantage of playing 2nd

I have read opinions that Cardiff have an edge on Norwich because they get to play first and put pressure on us.

That sounds crazy.

As any poker player knows there is a inherent advantage in deciding what to do after your opponent has acted (being on the dealer BTN)

This is strategically intuitive.

If Cardiff win, we know we have to win.

A draw gains us little, A loss is almost the same value as a draw so you can plan accordingly

If Cardiff draws, a win would be huge but...... a draw would be just as huge ........especially knowing we have Coventry at home. (and cardiff has a tough away game which they have to win)
Later in the game you might not gamble as much on going for a win knowing a draw is great result but a loss is f**king disaster.

If Cardiff loses.......You now know you only need 1 win from the last 2 games.
A loss isnt a total disaster, A win is obvioulsy magnificent but a draw doesnt really change much for the coventry game (cardiff still have to win and we have to lose/draw)
Assuming equal GD, they would overtake us.

It should be obvious that subtle differences in approach should be taken depending on the situation.

In certain spots Lambert has gone 3 along the back with 5 strikers.....to go for it.

Against NF he brought on Lappin and Rob Edwards to hold on to what we had.

I just dont understand those who think its somehow a disadvantage to play last?
