Re Dubbers' dilemma of yesterday

I've never been in the situation so I've never had to muse on it. My initial reaction would be to thump the thumper, or at least to threaten to do it. Straight away I understand that this would probably increase the tension in the affected household, but then again it might also redefine the roles therein by introducing a new atmosphere. I don't know...........?
