The thread about city fans sitting with the Ipswich supporters
One of my worse football experiences was watching norwich lose, the year that Gunny mis-kicked. A friend got me and my dad 2 tickets in the stand right next to the North Stand, and we had to be very careful how we behaved, so as not to draw attention to ourselves.
It got even scarier when the Ipswich fans identified an old guy (literally in his 70's) who was also a Norwich fan. Pretty much everybody around him started jeering him and spitting at him. He, not surprisingly, got really upset and left, which was greeted with cheers from the crowd.
This story is 100% true, and frightening on a few levels:
1. this was not the 'hard core' part of the ground, and several of the people spitting on the old guy looked to be normal middle-aged supporters.
2. if they did that to a guy, clearly in his 70's, what would they have done to me and my dad?
Basically, if anyone on here is going to be sitting in the Ipswich areas, I suggest you do nothing to identify yourself as a Norwich supporter.
