I have a Desire, and used to have an iPhone 3GS

The Desire is better IMO, and you can change anything on it that you don't like. The iPhone has a slightly more accurate touchscreen. I was happy with my iPhone, but I think Apple's stuff is expensive, and never seems built to last (3 iPods broke after normal usage, just out of warranty). I also hate the restrictions like no gmail app allowed on iPhone.

The Desire HD is nice, but big. Samsung seem pretty good for Android phones, and the OS is certainly very nice.
