one of the wellrecognised problems of separation of owners and managers of companies, in all kinds of areas

gives managers of companies an incentive to gamble when their company's in trouble, 'cos they won't lose any more if fail, but win big if they dont. so you can often see managers make firms go for broke and take big risks, and shareholders lose more, when they get close to trouble.
