I think you are thinking way too deep about this............

The fact you seem to admit that its a "rocky road" suggests some room for discussion.........

The problem with this kind of passive censorship is that it effects creativity when comedians are wondering if they will upset some group of people............

Can you imagine comedy that doesnt offend or upset anyone.......

cant talk about any religion, any country, any ethnic group any consumer product, any animal (animal rights will complain) any service (cab drivers will be offended by cabby jokes)

You can claim there is a line in comedy........but the line is blurred .....its different with every single person...... thats why so many people get in trouble for telling jokes which cross certains peoples lines.........
Just because it crosses your line dont assume it crosses everyones.........

And FWIW........ I defend your right to be offended.

As an example fro the Top gear thing, the stereotype thing is included along with the "mexican food looks like sick" quotes..........

Why is anyone upset by that quote?

He is being offensive about a "food"

Mr PC himself Ben Elton did a huge skit on Kentucky Fried Chicken..........he is not talking about Kentucky or the USA.............
