Doncaster refused to make any bold predictions

Doncaster refused to make any bold predictions, but offered encouragement to supporters by saying the club was in a position to ?break even? in the coming season ? despite having to cope with a ?13m drop in income.

A ?6m parachute payment this season and next will cushion the blow of relegation, which came after an humiliating 6-0 thrashing at Fulham on the last day of the Premiership campaign.

This year's payment will be eaten into by the second ?1.25m instalment of Dean Ashton's ?3m transfer fee ? possibly rising to ?4m on appearances ? and inevitable trading losses in the Championship.

But City's sound financial state puts them among the best placed of the 24 sides to mount a promotion challenge next season.
