I just can't get my head around people seriously thinking he'd go to *Burnley* at this point in time, and coming up with conspiracy theories as to why his fairly obvious rebuttal was actually code for "Yes, I'm going to Burnley!"

I mean, WTF? OMFG! Even for the Internets, WTF?
