I think a lot of people are getting fed up with Have Your Say sections though

as they've come to expect the fatuous opinions and loud-mouthed critiques of total morons. This captures it fairly well: User Posted Link

I think you're right about the General Public, but the impression I get from the blogosphere and amount of quality journalism/podcasting is that a niche audience might be big enough to make a relatively low-budget programme sustainable. We shall see!
