Sacking managers............ ....plus some random thoughts.

Here in the US we get SSN on Fox Soccer Channel at various times of the day.

Just watching the 5-6pm hour right now.

They started out annoucing that Laws had been sacked which I think is not that great a suprise as I thought they would be up the top this year.
Severly underperformed given the quality.

That had me thinking that its amazing Fergie Jr is still in a job then......... bink...........he's gone too.
Again......... no shock there.

I often wonder if clubs have a long term plan when they sack a manager?

If I was running a club I would already have someone lined up to take over but very rarely do you see this happening.
(Newcastle is probably the exception this year)
Time and time again you see clubs sack managers and then start looking to see who they can get in?

Now seems a strange time to sack if you have nobbody lined up?
Why not in early December? Get someone in so he can look at the squad and then have the full window to make some moves. (in and outs)

As for Burnley, I feel with the right manager they will be a real threat 2nd half.
I think Chris Hughton is the ideal person IMHO.
Knows the championship well, experienced and available!
Can't think of anyone as talented or more qualified.

Big Sam wants a Prem gig. He said so last week.

Preston are in a total mess, why would any decent manager go there?
IMHO they made a huge mistake sacking Alan Irvine claiming they were a big club.

He made the playoffs the season before he was sacked
and were only 16th when he was given the boot.
Proof that some boards have ridiculous expectations when your home gate is around 10,000......
They should have been ecstatic with mid table champs.

Irvine has gone on to do a decent job under a difficult financial situation at Shef Wed.
They now lie 2nd in LG1, in prime position to push on and win automatic promotion.
That was a smart pickup on their part.

I know this might sound crazy................But..........

Preston could do a lot worse than call Glenn Victor Roeder!

He might just shake things up enough to get them out of the mess they are in.
They may need a nasty bastard in there.

He actually has a good record of turning clubs around.........The problem has always been the 2nd season!
