look at him, in the eye, in silence. Like that. And The Horse would keep his face motionless for 10 seconds or so, till the chap who'd asked him the question was starting to feel a bit uneasy. Then The Horse would allow his upper lip to curl a little, just a fraction. Like that. And then he'd square his shoulders, and stick his chin out a fraction, and order a Proper Man's Drink.

No more would be said.
