Two decades or more of permanent attack from the right wing press calling us over-paid parasites, non-productive and with gold-plated pensions (which we paid for by accepting reduced comparative salaries) has joe public believing it.

I think I felt like you but I was lucky enough to be able to throw myself into Trade Union activity. I thought I could change everything but looking back from my retirement I realise that was a fantasy but I remain proud of the small but relevant changes we did bring about in terms of equality.

Stay with it.
