You've stood up and been counted out
It is now abundantly clear that NW has taken the team as far as he can and a change is required.
We enjoyed our season in the premiership but it was clearly a step too far and we are now struggling to recover and a fresh face is urgently required.
The main reasons that constitute my thoughts for his departure are as follows:-
1. The signings he made in readiness for the Premiership were largely players who you would buy if you were still in the championship.
2. Man management is poor. If you fall out with a player, and this has happened on more than one occasion, don't leave them to rot in the ressies if they have something to offer. It doesn't just punish the player but everyone connected to the club. There have been many times where Alex Ferguson has fallen out with a player but if that player is an integral part of the team he continues to play him but deals with the issue separately and not to the detriment of the team.
3. Substitutions and tactical awareness - where do you start I have never understood his mentality on this subject and guess I never will.
4. Team selection - last night was a classic example. We win our first league game of the season on Saturday, albeit against a poor side, but the first 45 minutes was most encouraging. A major contribution to this first half performance came from Paul McVeigh, a player who doesn't like the physical side of the game but has the best first touch at the club and a football brain. Can anyone therefore explain why he was left on the bench last night. You do not change a winning side especially when it doesn't happen too often.
5. Why did we get rid of Malky and replace him with inferior players, the same of which could be said about Edworthy.
The club needs to take stock and move forward and therefore changes need to be made. We know that whether NW goes or not Ashton will leave in January. A contract is not worth the paper it is written on nowadays.
