In a few weeks Worthington offers to resign. Delia talks him out of it and gives him the position of Director of Football. Cue Steve Foley taking over with Livermore as his number two.
Delia and Michael are happy to have kept their golden boy, Worthington's happy to still have a job, and the players are happy knowing that the same old pals act will apply. No expensive contract buy-outs and the fans are given the illusion of a new direction.
Everyone's a winner.
