Moral of the story is :
If she can get legal aid, and you have a French accountant that pisses you about so you can't, her solicitor is going to walk all over you and character assassinate you to the point of lying, near as damn it.
I'm back to good friends with her now though ! Current partner REALLY doesn't like that...
