Happens fairly often in cricket. Batsmen often start well, then get found out

then have to work on the weakness's that are getting exploited, get confidence back, score runs again, get worked out again, work on weakness's etc etc.

Can be a bit of a cycle, is different for different players, its also down to mental strength as well, some are better at scrapping through a dip in form than others.

KP has an agressive style that leads him to picking poor shots sometimes.
He also has vulnerabilities which are played on, which is why his form dipped before he was injured.
That injury would have given other players a chance to play for their county side while they recovered, get some runs, get some form and timing.
KP though has no county side, so had to go straight back into the England side just to get some cricket, so probably ended up back earlier than he would have done had he had a county side. Otherwise he's have got no cricket at all........
