My Grandad was a bandsman in the Gordon Highlanders in WW1 (not a piper though)
He had bothe his feet amputated after getting frstbite at Mons and always said he was glad it happened otherwise he would haveof been on the Somme and probably dead.
GLAD to have his feet amputated at 20 FFS!!!!
