I could never understand the slating he got when he was here

He was 18 years old, what did you expect - Roberto Carlos? To me, he always looked a more complete footballer than Bertrand, who got off very lightly. He was quick and athletic, had good touch and good concentration. He made occasional mistakes and got panned unfairly. Good on him - I hope he makes it where Bertrand and others are failing.
