wrath techie opinions required

so after 18 months of having my laptop I'm finally seeing considerable slow down (I now normally have it on high performance pretty much all the time)

So tonight I'm using ACERs little tools to make a recovery disk......yeah I know should have done that on day 1!!

But do you think performance will be enhanced by a clean reboot?

I do good housekeeping like antivirus and spyware checks together with defrags etc quite regularly.

Not sure it's worth it.

Got any other suggestions?
