what does 'Marvin' mean, though?

Pants used to call me it when he was on attack mode - I think he meant I grumbled, a la Marvin in HGTHG (which I don't, obviously).

But pointing that you don't bite soup isn't grumbling. It's being a pedant, which is surely something else entirely.
