July wasn't too bad either
Unfortunately August was the wettest and coldest August I can recall in 35 years of spending my summer in Scotland. It was DISMAL. There were days when it could have been early November. One day we sat in the Landrover on a beach watching the rain bounce so violently off the sand that it was like a silver haze. You couldn't see further than 150 yards. Unbelievable.
So this year, to avoid family rebellion, after I've done some grouse we're off to the sun for a couple of weeks
