the bloke had lost the plot, shot and killed one person, with two more injured. He then got the hump with being portrayed as a nutcase in the media and threatened to start killing more people.

I think the police did a good job, the fact that for 6 hours he was being talked to (NOT shot at as if it was a gunfight at the OK coral) and then he took his own life.

The media coverage was ridiculous BUT its what people wanted to hear about - so its on the news. That is simply the society we live in.
