really. Recent global warming has significantly reduced chances of snowfall during British winters of late. What is also sailiant in this equasion is how far the Gulf Stream shifts southwards this winter to draw in colder polar air. That would then increase our chance of us seeing a white Christmas.
East Anglia for example has seen just one white Christmas since 1971, and that was in 1993. London has had 10 white Christmases in the last century 1996 and 1999 being the last occurences. Interestingly London also saw significant snowfall in 1976, the year that also saw one of the hottest and driest summers on record.
