Pork is not an easy meat to match, one of those rare dishes that sit uneasily between white and red
I would have gone with a Rioja, I think; nice sweet fruit. You don't want anything too heavy if you go red. Possibly a decent Cote du Rhone.
If going white then you need a BIG flavour. A New World chardonnay would do the trick, Chile supposedly producing some good flavours now.
Join the Wine Society, it's very cheap, has a great selection of wines at all prices (including lots of decent drinking under a fiver), is no nonsense, delivers to your door, very informative about their wine. User Posted Link
