I couldn't understand why he thought it was a lawyerly phrase (it isn't) so I googled it and realised that he was using wiki, which on this occasion (and I am a great fan of wiki) was wrong

Anyway, I didn't mean to criticise him, he had a bit of a point in what he said and I posted the Diogenes tag in support of his general line. The number of times we've all moaned about Waller's commentary!

I think he fell down in assessing human reactions though. Although we all thought Roy was a bit of a crap commentator, it didn't stop us being fond of him and feeling sad when he died: usa doesn't seem to have taken that into account.

1625 is the oldest hit I've ever had on a Westlaw search, I didn't know it went back that far
