footie team numbers

apropos our new squad numbers...I was trying to remember what positions the numbers used to signify, in the days before fixed squad numbers.

I think it was somethign like:

1 - keeper
2 - right back
3 - left back
4 - central midfielder?
5 - centre back
6 - centre back
7 - central midfielder?
8 - right winger?
9 - target man
10 - second striker
11 - left winger?

Is that something like right? Not sure about quite a few of them, really....how quick we forget...
