Where Do You Even Start On That??
You'd like to think a lot of international careers came to an end today, not just because of this game, but the tournament as well-and, don't forget, a hell of a lot of them were "responsible" for us not even qualifying for Euro 2008.
But, come the first squad for the Euro 2012 qualifiers, they'll all be there or thereabouts again, and a 2-0 home win against someone like Belarus will have us cheering again, and proclaiming the new England Manager as another Messiah-"and I should know, I've seen a few..."
Wright-Phillips, Heskey, Upson, Johnson, Defoe, even the so called saviour, Barry. Found out time and time again. We should take a leaf out of Germany's book, pick a young side for the 2012 qualifiers, stick with them, and build for the next World Cup, with that being used as the yardstick for who will play for England from the qualifiers in that.
