Hardly a cunning plan though.
It's a German company who sponsor the German national league. It's not beyond the wit of the FA to ensure that the Premiership use them (and thereby helping a fair few other nations as well) if they wish. And of course there are quite a few nationalities benefiting from the Bundesliga using it. And Ligue 1 and so on. So I don't think it's worth making a conspiracy case as the Telegraph seem to be doing (see Tricky's link).
There are also altitude and pitches to take into consideration. The teams who've done best so far are the ones who pass to feet and manouevre other teams by controlling possession. Let's see what Spain do with it.
