It is slightly ironic

That after years of playing well, he's now finally getting in the England team when he's had a year of arguably his worst form.

As for the goal, about the kindest thing I can say is that it was on him reasonably quickly and bounced in an awkward place to collect cleanly. Still...oh dear.

More to the point, there seemed to be a total lack of ideas from the rest of the side when facing two banks of four. About the best that happened was Shaun W-P doing a dozen stepovers and running straight into his marker. Again. And again. Heskey somewhat ruined a lot of the good work he did by being perpetually and needlessly offside. And other than deposting a free kick somewhere in the region of Zambia, what exactly did Lampard do last night?
