the right side coming from Hurghada, so unless you particularly want to go into central Cairo, I would stay in one of the Airport Hotels.
BA flights are extortionate, I would use BMI or Egyptair (they code share) unless the RN is paying which I guess thet are? Egyptair are OK - they fly Boeing 777's to Heathrow with all mod cons - flying time is about 5 hours.
For airport hotels, I recommend the J W Marriott.
