Oh I agree with that, If I was the PM i'd be getting on to HMRC and finding out
what is owed by football as a whole, then giving them a deadline to pay up.
Mebbe just after they get this (next 2010/2011) TV payments through.
If they don't use that to pay their tax debt i'd be telling them to put clubs into admin.
HMRC must start taking a hard line with this, clubs know they can get away with it and are using tax income as funds, safe in the knowledge if the gamble doesnt pay off they'll only have to pay about 5p in the ? of the debt they've accrued.
Set a limit per division of how much back tax is allowed, and for how long before admin is triggered.
Stick to it.
Make football abide by the laws that are applied stringently to any other business.
