Is the UK really scrapping biometric passports ! Nice, now you will need a visa to enter

the US, as I had to do last year because my passport is not biometric.

The US entry requirements changed in 2009 - when I went in 2008 I needed no visa.

Why would they scrap biometric passports ? I don't get it.
