Cameron Is No Fool!

Its all working out nicely, isn't it?

Firstly,I think Clegg has next to no intention of working with Cameron-and the latter knows it. Its posturing. If he (Clegg) rejects the Conservatives overturres, he can then turn to Labour and Brown with a clear head and say, "well, we gave the party with the biggest number of seats/votes a chance, but...." Similarly, Cameron can sit back and say "well, we gave them a chance".

If he had gone to Labour first, he would have been seen to prioritise a party that has had a bad night and suffered their biggest losses for decades.

Funnily enough, I think the Conservatives will benefit from NOT having any power or part of Government. Labour and Lib Dems will form a coalition and preside, with a tiny majority and a strong and extremely un-cooperative opposition-against a Government that will have to make lots of unpopular decisions and implement them quite swiftly.

Thus, if there is another General Election six, ten, twelve months down the line-Cameron is in a strong position to win a majority and clear mandate to govern. That is the gamble that Cameron is taking, he feels that, at the present time, being a sgtrong and united opposition is a better option than part of a dis-united Government and he will welcome Lib Dem and Labour talks and eventual coalition.
