If you turn up early at Alton Towers early you get to go on things.

If you turn up mid afternoon or later, especially on the more popular rides, you're gonna have to queue and run the risk of missing out if the park shuts.

If you turn up and see there's a looooooooooong queue, it doesn't take a genius to realise that going away and coming back later MIGHT just again run the risk of missing out.
