I hated Portillo

as much as anyone but a couple of years after he got kicked out he made a programme about his family in Salamanca in Spain. His father was one of several brothers. The others all fought for Franco but his father was on the side of the republicans, but apparently refused to carry a gun for fear of shooting a brother.

After I saw this he appeared much more human and whilst his politics still stink they are nothing like they were as Thatchers favorite son.
