its a bit more complicated than that.

You can install itunes on any computer using the disk and can update it to the latest version on tinternet.

Your library is where all your music is stored and if memory serves me correctly the ipod is automatically set up to update to the library when you connect it via the usb cable.

The problem would be if you switched to the new puter as your library would be empty and therefore your ipod would update to having f**k all on it. Somewhere in the book it tells you how to stop it automatically updating and how to download your ipod library to itunes.
