...an equivalent disaster hit this country, the scale of suffering and resulting anarchy would be exactly the same and everyone would be baying for Blair's blood.

Bearing in mind for it to be comparable, area affected wise, as good as the whole country would have to be deluged-and, try as we might, I don't think the response or aid would take anything other than weeks to get through to everyone.
