Reserve game
Last night was probably the best reserve game I have ever seen (not saying much I know) but I came away feeling a bit depressed. The reason? Why is it that a group of mostly teenagers can close down quicker, be stronger in the tackle, show better movement and pass the ball better than our first team? And yes I know it was only a reserve game.
A few points then:
1) Jarret was pretty awful.
2) Hughes was far better. I think we have missed him.
3) Henderson is a completely different player when played up front. A well taken goal, excellent movement and lots of energy.
4) Mcveigh looked ordinary for most of the game. That is until he was played in his correct position, where he showed great touch, vision and scored a great goal. Similar to the one Mckenzie put in the top of the riverend against Palace, but Mcveigh bent it in the far corner.
5) Robert Eagle is improving. Some good crosses and a couple of tackles that would have had Carrow Road on its feet, had it been a league game.
6) Michael Spillane already looks more composed in defence than Fleming.
7) The cross for the first goal from a youngster was better than anything Colin has produced this season.
I know it was only a reserve game and I'm not saying we should throw a load of youngsters in. It just shows that we have some good quality coming through and if given a chance in the correct position they could have a good future at our club.
So I say to Worthy, please give Hendo or Mcveigh a chance on Sat in their best position. If they can't get in now, they never will.
