I did try to say 'some people' I think and not direct it at yourself since you didn't make the comment.

Just gets tiresome reading everywhere how it's all Bush's fault, when not much of it actually is (for once!) Mind you, he has been rather lacking in leadership on the post-disaster front...

And thinking about it, it's easy to say with hindsight that funding etc had no impact, but what if it had only been a Cat 3 and it had gone pair-shaped...? There's probably some muppet in Washington right now saying 'See, I told you we could cut that budget and it wouldn't matter...' On this occasion, no, but next time?

Good point re. same things happening here. I wonder how up-to-date the Thames Flood barrier is & what contingency plans there are for that ever failing....

(Nice article though, cheers for posting it; not one I'd seen before & added some interesting points)
