I know they're often right. But thats not the point, really

in the US, journos refuse to print unattributed quotes - on the basis that if someone - anyone - wants to see something in the press, they should be willing to say it publically.

Otherwise they can just back away from it if it turns out to be untrue, or for their line to change. And our system means that the public never quite knows who's telling the BBC or the papers what to say.

As I say, just dodgy. Particularly when it's the beeb doing it.
